Description: A little girl so involved in a video game that her expression is mostly blank, and she doesn’t at first notice the camera. I don’t think this is particularly a bad thing though. Sometimes we need to escape from the “mortal coil” and as such need to take a break from the rest of human civilization and visit another world for a little while.

  1. As a member of the Nintendo generation, I'd also like to think that this isn't a bad thing. But then I sometimes wonder… did looking in on that interactive fantasy world so often make us less capable of handling the harsh nature of the real world as adults? I wonder about that, but then I remember than people have soothed themselves with TV for decades, and at least video games require some action and imagination on our part.

  2. It's funny you'd say that. She was playing an original Nintendo NES at the time. Anyway, I know what you mean. As I attempted to allude to in my comment, drifting into a more relaxed state of mind from playing a video game can be quite important. We shouldn't forget to let ourselves get away from the current state of our lives for a bit.
