Patrick Swayze
Barbara Walters hosted an expose (aired in my hometown of narberth, pennsylvania) on January 7, 2009 ABC that dealt with your daunting (bravado filled) challenge with pancreatic cancer and the concomitant (near debilitating) side affects from cutting edge treatments!
Kudos to you Patrick (and your loving wife of more than three decades) from a veritable unknown viewer, who just by circumstance and happenstance clicked the television channel to this emotional interview, which left me reaching for a box of tissues!
No expectation finds me sitting here attempting to conjure up the gush of death defying esprit de corps fighting spirit exhibited for the public to witness (to whit) on numerous mediums only barely aware of your hellacious daily corporeal beast of burden!
Just maybe that invisible red dawn ghost of hope and chance intervention for some divine miracle (manifested perchance as an unseen dirty dancing whirling dervish) might be unexpectedly delivered the medicinal goods from saviors disguised as the outsiders!
Although neither an actor, playwright nor thespian, I witnessed (thru snippets of movies that incorporated quite a hefty career on the silver screen) your august aura, charisma, dogma, karma and persona that lent braggadocio, might and weight to one who possessed a theatrical talent ideal for stagecraft when watching (thru teary myopic eyes) that special broadcast!
Aside from this natural poise and equanimity (of yours) to portray (convincingly any assigned character), in tandem with that outsize (yet modest) personality, no wonder such an abundance of fan mail pours in from all four corners of the globe ideally before the arrival of the grim reaper reins in and lays claim to another fiery white stallion, whose other roles eclipsed by hoping to out maneuver the most successful scythe sizing up the next unsuspecting sans suspect and swimmingly swinging sepulchral specie known to mortal man and woman!
No words can fully encapsulate the depth and scope of awesome courage (just partially glimpsed) amidst what must rank as the must atrocious, heinous and nefarious psychic fateful bodhi (or rather bodily) breaking point pitting every ounce of willpower to live against those most private thoughts in whatever comprises your belief in the hereafter!
