Frozen Father

Frozen father reaches out
little girl pouts, has doubts
remembers loss and lemonade
TV and good grades

Doesn’t speak her language
he tries and tries but fails
pigtails, she sobs and wails
at broken trails
forks in the road, left alone
to put the pieces back together

Now she thinks, why bother?
Too much time, too much pain
to start the process up again
Farewell, Father
