Biography »

Drake Doremus, 26, a graduate of the American Film Institute, is the youngest fellow to be accepted into the program at the highly lauded institution. Doremus' first feature film SPOONER premiered at Slamdance in 2009 and Won Best Feature at the Louisville International Fillm Festival, Mt. Rainier, Sonoma International, Newport Beach International and Lone Star International in Dallas. Distribution for the film is planned for 2010. Doremus, an Orange County native, has been performing improv and sketch comedy since he was six, and began directing when he was twelve. In high school he wrote, produced, and directed four plays. He's studied with respected improvisational teachers Michael Gellman from Second City, Gary Austin and Cherie Kerr, founding members of The Groundlings. He's received praise for his films in the LA Times, New York Times, Hollywood Reporter, and Variety. Doremus’ second feature film, DOUCHEBAG, is in Dramatic Competition at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
