green day

(sxc.hu)

Green Day

Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool
which trio known as the band Green Day
composed lyrics and melody imbibe this listener
with musical fuel
no matter that the lead singer
supposedly never graduated from high school
yet exuded awesome talent galore
akin to a crackling log at holiday yule!

i (who spent childhood earlier years practicing the piano)
with vigor and vim
wondered what if dedication got maintained
with said instrument or another
perhaps me billfold and financial accounts
would not be so paltry and slim
e'en now as an older mister mom
of deux darling daughters ponders this, that or druther
frosty road not taken perhaps fancying himself joining a seminary
obeying behavior proper and prim
but such suppression of natural predilections
quickly finds thoughts of me late mother
at that teary eyed favorite tune akin to dangling all along on a limb
known as the "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"!

"Wake Me Up When September Ends" like pellets of rain
also touched a psychic chord
on account of the anguished emotional pain
this dada can easily identify with
since the passing of his mom, whence grief got poured
which fourth anniversary of her death occurs May fourth
into a plain box her ashes got lain!
